Forum’s in bloom!

Part of our Green Apple Award, whose slogan is “making your green credentials your seen credentials” involved the planting of a wildflower meadow on our premises, which is now in full bloom in time for the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations!

Wildflower meadows are eco-friendly and green. By encouraging more unusual and diverse foliage, our meadow area will not only absorb more carbon dioxide in the normal ways of photosynthesis etc. but will also help to capture and filter out different pollutants from the atmosphere.

True wildflower meadows are made up of perennial flowers that come back year after year, supporting a huge range of wildlife. Planting wildflowers will bring benefits to local bees and butterflies, as well as brightening up any area. The wildflowers are an intrinsic part of the food chain for most, if not all, insects and animals. They have a longer flowering season, offer better support for biodiversity than amenity grass and provide a significant resource to UK wildlife.
